Well, hello there gorgeous!
I've loved creating stories since I was a kid. As a grown up person, I started out as a lawyer. Pretty soon, I went back to what I'd wanted all along, and became a writer. That morphed into multimedia production, and eventually I fell in love with video production. I'm completely obsessed with all aspects of filmmaking.
Say NO To Cheesy Wedding Videos
Several minutes of hair and makeup footage - please NO! Awkward footage of you staring into each other's eyes in a way that just isn't you... Don't make your friends and family watch that!
I come alive when I get to tell the story of all the beautiful human connections, the fun and the warmth that is visible on your wedding day. That's where the gold is. And it's the most natural, unstaged thing.
This work keeps me firm in the belief that life is good. That people are amazing. That our families and friends are everything.
ABIA Awards 2017
This year I was recognised as runner up at the ABIA awards for videography, with a score of 99.9% given by brides I've worked with in the past 12 months.
My Fun Facts:
Let's chat soon!
Love, Michaela xx
About 75% of the time, I'm accompanied to weddings by either one of my talented colleagues Michele Pocknee or Lauren Redman.
With a second videographer, we can cover more angles. It also means we can be in two places at one time... So your photo shoot and canapes are both covered.
Lauren's pic coming soon!
Where do you film weddings?
I am based in Brisbane, Queensland. But I also film around South East Queensland including Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Lockyer Valley, Toowoomba and Northern NSW.
Your Wedding Story is a preferred supplier at a number of SEQ venues including Spicers Hiddenvale, An Island Hideaway and Brisbane Racing Club.
My fiance is camera shy - is that a problem?
Absolutely not. I usually meet with each couple for a coffee prior to the wedding so that when I turn up on your wedding day you feel more at ease.
I can assure you that on your wedding day there will be so much to take in, your videographer and photographer will not be as noticeable as you think.
What is the difference between videography and cinematography?
Some wedding videos are produced in a cinematic way - with large sweeping camera actions that have a Hollywood feel about them. Cinematography is beautiful - but it tends to involve a lot of equipment, and some couples can find it intrusive. It's really down to your personal preference. My style of filming is more discreet, apart from those times in the day set aside for staged shots, such as your photo shoot. I believe I can capture the most authentic emotions, and the most beautiful moments, when I am positioned subtly in the background and people aren't thinking about the fact they are on camera.
Do you film in HD?
All my footage is shot in High Definition (HD) and is suitable to playback on widescreen TVs (or larger screens), as well as online.
Do you offer photography as well?
No. But we'll happily give you a few photographers to check out who we can highly recommend.
Do you provide raw footage?
Our all-inclusive package includes all your extended footage. We lightly edit the footage from each section of the day to make it "watchable". (Raw footage is useless to most people as it is just a bunch of individual files, often with extended periods of not much happening).
